My grandpa was born domingo cyril “cy” carrera on may 25th, 1932. he is remembered to be a noble, hard working, distinguished and incredibly caring man. if tragedy didn’t strike him shortly after i was born, he would’ve been the father figure i’ve always wanted since i was a little boy.
at age 15-16 i began to think about him obsessively, which just so happened to coincide with the beginning of my journey as a music artist.
my real name is tristan. that’s how a lot of people know me. but when i was thinking of what to go by in music, i chose to honor him by including his nickname in my artist name (cybra). that decision has kept me connected to him ever since. everyone that has met me through music calls me “cy” , and i wouldn’t change that for the world.
throughout my journey with this artform, i’ve struggled to wear my artistry on my sleeve with the utmost confidence and pride, as i really have always been a shy and timid boy at heart. my hope, however, is for this album to be the planting of a new flag in my life. now that this statement is out, this statement that took years of patience and hard work, this part of me can’t be denied. not by anyone or anything.
